The work to establish Alpha at UCF began in 1978. On June 16, 1979, Xi Iota became the 494th House of Alpha—and generations of Brotherhood followed.

Seven charter members established Xi Iota at UCF, beginning a legacy of Brotherhood, service and campus impact that continues across generations.
The chapter seal is shown solely for historical identification. The ΞΙ50 commemoration is being planned independently by Brothers initiated through the Xi Iota Chapter.

Establishing Alpha
at UCF.
In 1978, UCF enrolled approximately 14,000 students, with African-American students representing about three percent of the campus population. The effort to establish Alpha on campus began in partnership with an Orlando graduate chapter.
Xi Iota was chartered on June 16, 1979, as the 494th House of Alpha. Later that summer, a gala in the Student Center marked the occasion.

The chapter’s current programming includes the Miss Black & Gold Scholarship Pageant, The Royal Luncheon, Stroll Like an Alpha and community-service initiatives benefiting UCF and greater Orlando.
